Birth Support

The birth of your baby is not just a moment in time, but rather a transformational culmination of months, and for some, years in the making. This is why we begin our work together during pregnancy. As a birth doula I bring my knowledge of different modalities of care, confidence in physiological birth, and experience in an array of birth settings to all the families I serve. As parents you will have explored all your options and found confidence in making decisions regarding your care throughout pregnancy, and into your birth and postpartum journeys.

The Process

Free interview and consultation- We will meet and get to know each other. During this time I’ll hear about your vision for the birth and we see if we’re a good fit. Partners are strongly encouraged to attend!

Prenatal visits- Before the birth we will meet for three prenatal visits for approx. two hours each. During the first and second sessions we will get to know each other, address your preferences for the birth, discuss any questions and concerns and go over logistics. We will also discuss birth classes and the array of resources available to you. During the third visit we will focus on comfort and massage techniques and positions that may be helpful during labor and birth, together we will practice these throughout your home.

On call support - Upon hire date through the 4th trimester  I will be available to you via phone, text, and email. From 37 weeks on I am on call for you 24/7 until you give birth. This means my phone is always in reach and I will join you in labor once I am needed.

Day of Birth - My purpose is to provide continuous, calm, loving, positive, and non-judgemental support to you and your birth team. I will stay with you throughout labor and the birth, and up to three hours after baby is born to make sure breastfeeding/bodyfeeding is established and family is settled in.

After Birth- I will come to your home for two visits within the first 6 weeks. During the first visit we typically talk through your birth experience, how the whole family is settling in with new baby, and discuss any other resources you may require. During the second visit at approx. 5-6 weeks postpartum we come together again to see how your family has further settled in and discuss/troubleshoot any new difficulties or adjustments that have arisen. During this visit I offer a postpartum treatment of either a vaginal steam or closing of the bones to celebrate your first 40 days.

Rates

Birth Doula Fee: sliding scale $2200-2800

My birth doula fees are sliding scale based on family income. This allows families of varying resources to access my services. I use the San Francisco Area Median Income (AMI) chart to help families determine what price tier they fall in. Using the chart, find your income in relation to the current number of household members and that will determine the percentage of the AMI for your family.

Birth Doula Fees
under 80% AMI - $2200
80%-140% AMI - $2400
above 140% AMI - $2800
